Relationship Capital should not be one big number.
“Relationship Capital: 8,472” would look impressive and tell you almost nothing. RelationshipsIQ deliberately avoids leading with a master score because strategic network value is structural. What matters is what the network reaches, how credible the routes are, what depends on one or two relationships, how much optionality exists and which strategically important relationships are deteriorating.
This is about pathways—not the worth of people.
A relationship placed low in an allocation view is not a judgment about the person. It means that relationship currently contributes less to the specific objective the user chose. Change the objective and the strategic interpretation can change too.
What Relationship Capital examines.
Strategic reach
Where the network has credible access across functions, seniority and domains relevant to the current objective.
Fragile joins
Where a useful connection between two parts of your network depends on one or two relationships. If they lapse, the route disappears.
Independent routes
How many genuinely separate routes exist into an area. Several contacts at one employer may still represent one route, not several.
Concentration
Whether too much strategic reach depends on one employer, one function, one seniority band or a small group of people.
At-risk capital
Not every cooling relationship—only those where deterioration has a structural consequence for the objective.
Where to spend time
Allocate limited relationship effort based on what a relationship currently contributes to the objective, its health and the pathways that depend on it.
Connected is not the same as credible.
Relationship Capital repeatedly compares apparent access with relationship evidence. A company can contain several contacts and still offer weak strategic reach if the relationships are thin. The useful number is the credible coverage, not the raw count.
Optionality matters because objectives change.
A resilient network is not simply large. It contains more than one independent way into important domains and does not collapse when one relationship cools, one company restructures or one objective changes.
